The year 2022 is about to come to an end. Looking back at the cross-border industry this year, the logistics industry has significant variables. Due to the global outbreak of the epidemic, cross-border logistics freight rates continue to rise, and most enterprises have turned to logistics services. The result is a cliff like decline in logistics freight rates.

The continuous decline in sea freight prices has led to various freight forwarding companies in the industry receiving goods at low prices, bringing the "roll" to the extreme. For this reason, chaos in the industry has also occurred frequently, with frequent incidents of freight forwarder thunderstorms being reported every once in a while, such as far warehouse and near delivery, and sellers taking money to redeem goods.

Recently, there has been another incident in the cross-border logistics industry, with 18 logistics companies jointly issuing a statement stating that sellers may have to bear half of the tens of millions of fines.

18 logistics companies jointly declare, what's going on?

Recently, a joint statement regarding the backlog of goods at EQ2 warehouse in Belgium was discussed within the cross-border logistics circle, jointly issued by 18 logistics companies. Since the end of October 2022, a series of issues related to the suspension of goods in and out of the EQ2 warehouse in Belgium and the closure of the warehouse caused by customs inspections have caused huge losses to both sellers and logistics practitioners.

It is understood that this case involves more than 200 customers and 43085 boxes of goods. The transportation methods involved include air freight, card freight, railway, and sea freight throughout the entire chain. The final fine amount determined by the customs is 1394487.12 euros, equivalent to over 10 million RMB.

The statement also stated that due to various reasons such as product non-compliance, incomplete documents, and delayed customs clearance of offshore tax numbers, e-commerce goods are facing the situation of being unable to pass inspection at all ports in Europe. At present, the goods in EQ2 warehouse are heavily overstocked and are facing the end of being destroyed.

The customs has merged all goods and processed the case, and a full penalty must be received before the warehouse can be unsealed. Therefore, the statement stated: "All logistics parties require the customer to bear at least half of the penalty in order to pick up the goods, and the penalty amount has already been sent to the customer.

In other words, the customer may have to bear half of the fine of over 10 million yuan, approximately 5 million yuan, which is undoubtedly another huge investment for the seller.
